Walk-in jabs only for those not registered

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The walk-in Covid-19 vaccination initiative starting on Aug 1 is only for those who are not accounted for by the Department of Statistics, and have not received an appointment for inoculation yet.

The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) said this in response to the circulation of WhatsApp messages that listed more than 50 vaccination centres (PPV) here and in Selangor that were allegedly said to accept walk-in candidates for first dose of vaccination without an appointment for those aged 18 and above.

“The walk-in initiative set to start on Aug 1 is only for those who have yet to receive their appointments or are still not accounted for after that date.

“The walk-in initiative is not for members of the public who have received appointment dates.

“An example of those who do not have appointment dates yet are people who do not have identification or travel documents, as announced by Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin on July 16.”

The CITF said Kuala Lumpur and Selangor residents were encouraged to register for Covid-19 vaccination.

“The list of PPVs involved in the walk-in initiative in August will be updated and released soon as not all centres will be part of it.

“Please go for your appointment at the venue stated.”

Khairy had announced that from July 17, all senior citizens aged 60 and above, who had yet to receive a vaccination appointment date, could walk in at any PPV in the Klang Valley for their jabs.

He said after Operation Surge Capacity had completed, all PPVs here and in Selangor would be open for walk-in vaccination for the first dose from Aug 1.
