AMAN who just lost his pregnant wife and unborn child to Covid-19 yesterday urged the public to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) to curb the spread of the virus.

“Please adhere to the SOP. I just lost my wife and unborn child to Covid-19.

“Think about your children, wife and husband. Just stay at home,” said Mohd Fadli Abdul Wahab, 35.

Fadhli’s wife Umaisarah Azmi, 25, who was seven months pregnant, died at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital at 1.25pm on Sunday.

“She had complained about shortness of breath and a severe headache.

“My wife had no illnesses or allergies since she became pregnant with our third child.

“But about 4am yesterday (Sunday), she told me she could not breathe and was feeling weak.

“I immediately rushed her to

Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for treatment. She was placed in the hospital’s red zone.

“She died not long after. The doctor confirmed that it was due to Covid-19.”

Fadhli, from Kampung Pokok Asam, said his wife was eager to welcome the arrival of their child.

“I didn’t know it was a sign that she would be gone forever.”

He said he was always at home with his wife as his workplace was closed due to the Movement Control Order.

“I was upset that I could not be by her side when she breathed her last. I only saw her body when the doctor called me in for confirmation.”

Fadhli, his two children and mother-in-law were screened for Covid-19 yesterday and were told by the Health Ministry to selfquarantine until July 26.

Kedah Health director Dr Othman

Warijo confirmed that a pregnant woman died at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital due to Covid-19 and that her family members were ordered to self-quarantine.
