South Korea is extending help to Indonesia in coping with the recent surge in Covid-19 cases, donating 350 oxygen concentrators and 35 ventilators.

South Korean ambassador to Indonesia Park Tae-Sung revealed this to Antara News agency as 200 of the 350 oxygen concentrators arrived at SoekarnoHatta Airport here on Sunday.

“No single country is able to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic alone,” Park said.

The remaining 150 oxygen concentrators were expected to arrive later.

Park said the Covid-19 pandemic should be resolved with international solidarity and cooperation, stressing that as a special strategic partner, South Korea, would always cooperate with Indonesia.

He expressed hope that his country’s assistance would help meet the need for oxygen concentrators in Indonesia.

Park gave an assurance that South Korea would continue to cooperate with Indonesia in handling the Covid-19 pandemic, including providing other humanitarian aid.

This year, South Korea disbursed US$4 million in funds to help Indonesia to increase its capacity in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Besides South Korea, several other countries, including Australia, Singapore, the United States, the Netherlands, Japan, Britain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), India and China had also offered help to Indonesia to deal with the explosion of Covid-19 cases in the country.

On Saturday, Indonesia’s recorded 51,952 Covid-19 cases, bringing the tally to 2,832,755, while 1,092 people died of the disease, bringing the death toll to 72,489.
