-

Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim took a train ride back to Ipoh after gracing the state-level Chinese New Year celebration in Taiping on Sunday.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad who shared a picture on his social media platform said the Electric Train Service (ETS) was also Sultan Nazrin’s favourite public transport service.

Also seen in the photo were Raja Puan Besar Perak Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris, Raja Dihilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris, Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya Abdul Halim Shah and Raja Kecil Sulong Perak, Raja Ahmad Nazim Azlan.

“After finishing an event in Taiping yesterday, I accompanied the Sultan of Perak and Raja Permaisuri Perak to return to Ipoh, riding the ETS train.

“The ETS train is a public transport network that connects the main cities between Gemas (Negri Sembilan) and Padang Besar (Perlis),” he said.

Saarani added that every day, more than 10,900 passengers were recorded using the ETS.

“Among the most popular trips is the service from KL Sentral to Ipoh. With a speed of 140km per hour, ETS can shorten the journey from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh to approximately two hours only.

“So, let’s travel to Perak riding ETS,” said Saarani who also shared hashtags #TahunMelawatPerak2024 and #VisitPerak2024 in his post.

On April 5 last year, state Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said Perak was targeting the arrival of eight million domestic tourists to the state in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2024.

According to Loh, about RM20.6 million has been allocated for upgrading of tourism facilities and promotional efforts in conjunction for Visit Perak Year 2024.
