March 20 decision on representation by Inspector Sheila
Controversial policewoman Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar, better known as “Inspector Sheila”, has sent a representation letter to the Attorney-General’s Chambers seeking the dismissal of public nuisance charges against her.
Counsel M. Manoharan, who represented the 36-year-old woman, said they sent the letter on Tuesday on the grounds that the charges faced by his client were trivial.
“Today (yesterday), magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan has fixed March 20 for the prosecution to update the court on the representation.
“They (the prosecution team) said they needed three weeks to review the representation filed, which consists about 20 pages.
“In addition to the trivial reasons, the representation was filed because my client is a victim in that sensationalised case,” he said here yesterday.
On Nov 8, last year, Sheila was accused of committing public nuisance by honking repeatedly and screaming at the scene, causing public distress to one Nuraihan Nadzifah Ibrahim.
The offence is alleged to have occurred near the parking lot at a shopping mall in Brickfields here at 5.26pm on June 16.
The offence falls under Section 268 of the Penal Code and carries a maximum fine of RM400 upon conviction.
On June 26, last year, Sheila who had since been suspended from the force, was charged with making criminal threats with an intention to intimidate a 69-yearold woman at a restaurant in Taman Sri Gombak near here on June 15.
This charge was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of two years’ jail and a fine.
She was also charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code with insulting the modesty of 41year-old Lance Corporal Abdul Arif Farhan Abdul Razak.
The offence carries a maximum penalty of five-year imprisonment and a fine.
Subsequently, Sheila was accused of intimidating a policeman of the rank of lance corporal with intent to insult his modesty at 1.25pm at the same location and date with the previous charges.
