SOLARVEST COMPLETING 1 UTAMA JOB
Rooftop installation can generate more than 5,700kWp of renewable energy
BANDAR Utama City Centre Sdn Bhd has appointed Solarvest Holdings Bhd’s unit, Solarvest Energy Sdn Bhd, to install on-site solar photovoltaic (PV) and building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) panels at 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
The installation is nearing completion, according to Bandar Utama City Centre, which is the operator of the mall.
The installation covers about 25,390 sq m of the rooftop and car park, and will generate more than 5,700 kilowatts peak (kWp) of renewable energy.
Solarvest is in charge of the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning tasks for the solar power system installation.
“At the current project stage, Solarvest has conducted studies at the site to assess the optimum clean electricity generation capacity to suit 1 Utama’s energy needs in a cost-effective manner,” it said.
Solarvest executive director and group chief executive officer Davis Chong Chun Shiong said the company was seeing increased interest in the adoption of clean energy, especially among commercial and industrial entities.
“Our expanded tender book in Malaysia from 1.6 gigawatts last year to 2.8 gigawatts this year signifies an acceleration of clean energy adoption in achieving Malaysia’s net zero goals,” he said.
Chong also emphasised Solarvest’s dedication to supporting customers in their journey towards decarbonisation by enhancing the reliability and accessibility of clean energy.
1 Utama Shopping Centre public relations and sustainability senior manager Lee Li Lian said as the first green mall in Malaysia, it acknowledged its pivotal role in promoting sustainable practices, minimising environmental impact and investing in effective long-term solutions to foster a circular economy and mitigate climate change.
