Frontrunners shape-shifting takes on a new dimension with the Kormaran K7 speedboat.

- May – 2 017 the latest in luxury By Sam Yen

The Kormaran K7 (from €1 million, rm4.8 million) does not look like a typical speedboat. all eyes, naturally, will be drawn to the hydraulic arms folded into the sides of the sevenmetre bullet-shaped body.

as a monohull, the K7 can jet around at speeds of 44 knots. the press of a button activates the outrigger hulls. Deploy them partially and the K7 becomes a catamaran; deploy them fully and the body submerges, becoming a trimaran. Dubbed the flying, driving and gliding modes, there are three additional styles: the kinetic flight mode for speed demons, night mode where led strips illuminate the twilight, and one where four-metre ‘wings’ rise from the sides to create a platform.

Dr oliver Kormann, the austrian brain behind the K7, used his experience in the German automotive industry as the basis of the speedboat. the overall structure of the K7 is carbon fibre, while the hydraulic arms are a blend of titanium and stainless steel. Many of the parts are based on Formula 1 racing technology, which goes a long way to explaining its kinetic energy. kormaran.com ≠

a Mer’s Blanc de La Mer The Brilliance White Mast (RM1,030) is a two-step treatment comprising the brand’s famous Miracle Broth and a blend of algae, vitamins and nutrients. The second step is The Brilliance White Gel Cream, which utilises sea-sourced active compounds and marine peptides to reduce stubborn discoloration and dullness, softening lines and wrinkles. The process takes eight minutes a day for a complexion that will – La Mer says – glow in a matter of weeks. www.lamer.com.my
