King of the road
Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Shelby Cobra Limited Edition
the year was 1964 and the Shelby Daytona Coupe had become the first American car to emerge victorious at a Le Mans 24 Hours race. Over 50 years later, Daytona Coupe artist Peter Brock – who had designed the history-setting Daytona’s aerodynamic bodywork – puts pen to paper alongside Baume & Mercier manufacture’s design director Alexandre Peraldi to birth the Clifton Club Shelby Cobra Limited Edition.
This tribute timepiece is equipped with a flyback chronograph (RM33,000), and is limited to 196 pieces — the top speed in miles per hour achieved by the Daytona Coupe on the Mulsanne straight of Le Mans.
Aesthetic tributes to the Shelby Daytona Cobra include a bicoloured dial to match the car’s tail, an oscillating rotor copied right off the wheel, chronograph pushers inspired by pedals and the iconic Cobra logo hanging off the red chronograph seconds hand. www.baume- et- mercier.com ≠
