game- changing gadget I c an’t b e without my iphone. I use it for project documentation, making informal design edits on the spot and shooting videos. favourite carry-on bag I depend on a Tumi soft carry- on bag that has zippers. It has many compartments that are accessible from the outside. I have three of those as they no longer make them. tips for getting over jet lag Having a ritual helps. I pack my schedule (tight) and try to return to a normal schedule as soon as possible. A couple of shots of espressos to get through the day. Exercise or walking in the daylight helps reset the body. routine when flying for business I typically don’t sleep unless it’s a long-haul flight. I read all the newspapers and journals, and don’t spend much time on the inflight entertainment. I tend to eat in the lounge and less inflight. Must-haves on the plane A light sweater, reading glasses and a good book.

Most interesting person you have met on a plane

I try not to bother anyone and keep to myself. I will be polite if someone engages me and then I will put on my headphones. Flying is a time to disengage. favourite airline I’ve been a long-time devotee of Singapore Airlines. I like the consistent service and their ability to recognise and implement my preferences. Best hotel for business I like to try new luxury hotels as it is part of my work and interest. I generally like smaller hotels with character, design and service.

Best overseas restaurant for a celebratory meal

I’ve had the most incredible meals at Yannick Alleno’s restaurants in Paris. Most inspiring destination I find inspiration i n m any p laces, b ut one place where I feel spiritually recharged is Soori Bali, the resort I own, designed and now operate. The stunning natural scenery, the connection with the local communities and the rhythm of traditional Balinese life feels like nowhere else; it’s a constant source of inspired energy.

“i like to try new luxury hotels as it is part of my work and interest.”
