Nero Nero
It’s been over two years since Nero Nero opened its doors at DC Mall and since then, the restaurant has acquired a loyal following among expatriates, especially Italians who miss the taste of home. Decorated to reflect the simplicity of an Italian bistro with white tablecloths and wicker chairs, Nero Nero comfortably seats 60 guests inside; fans of al fresco dining can opt for the terrace with an adjoining deli. True to its roots, Nero Nero is big on seasonal Italian produce. Much thought was put into the menu, which makes the presence of allergens known. Most diners immediately delve into Nero Nero’s signature panzerotti pugliesi. What’s not to love? The deepfried calzone is stuffed to the brim with fresh tomatoes and cheese. Best eaten with freshly baked bread, the burrata imported from Puglia provides flashbacks to that summer vacation spent in South Italy. Made to order, the cavatelli pasta is not only served with calamari and chopped prawns, but boiled in sea water.
TATLER TIP
Though gorgeous, the fountain in the restaurant can be a bit of a hazard. A distracted diner fell in while walking to her table with her eyes glued on her phone—we witnessed the whole thing!
