Tiki Taka
Pub grub gets a makeover at Tiki Taka, which occupies a whole corner lot in the affluent suburb of Damansara, making it easy to spot even from the highway. The convivial environment sees bar seats, low tables, as well as an al fresco area, and beckons to beer guzzlers and an after-hours crowd. A memorable starter, the hummus herb crisp bread is practically a meal on its own. Likewise, the adorable salted egg crab sliders and Singapore chilli prawns served with mantao will fill you up. Where mains are concerned, the slow-cooked wild boar rendang is pleasingly tender, and the truffle mushroom lobster pasta delectably cheesy. A unique dessert at Tiki Taka, the baklava ice cream sandwich draws inspiration from the Levant, and sees a thick slab of strawberry ice cream between sheets of sweet filo pastry. Given the sizeable portions and satisfying service at Tiki Taka, the total bill might surprise you—in a good way.
TATLER TIP
Look out for seasonal specials on the cocktail menu, which happened to be the Hijau (a refreshing concoction of pandan, lemon and gin) and the Shoreditch (a gin-based tipple lightly sweetened with maple syrup) at our time of visit.
