FRENCH FEAST RESTAURANT & BAR
20 Tengkat Tong Shin, Bukit Bintang TEL: 03 2110 6283 frenchfeast.com.my
A reincarnation of La Vie En Rose, which reportedly closed after a tragic fire, French Feast has reinstated itself in a converted bungalow. Those expecting fine china and white tablecloths might be a tad disappointed, as the slightly shabby establishment is designed for dressing down. The menu and service are quintessentially French, and by that we mean you’ll get textbook perfect escargot and foie gras, but might be refused a request of warm drinking water (hot tea and coffee are available, ironically). Our favourite dishes to order are the ‘hunter specialities’ such as the housemade sausages containing wild boar and pork offal as well as the veal sweetbreads—a bottle of red nicely offsets the gaminess of these plates. Two types of house wines are available at RM35 per glass, but there are half a dozen other by options ‘by the glass’ ranging from RM55 to RM195. French Feast also caters to serious oenophiles by offering high end wines that go up to RM4100 per bottle. Skip the usual desserts in favour of something more unusual: the marinated prunes in orange armagnac.
