ROOST

Sitting on prime real estate, Roost occupies a second-floor corner lot overlooking both Bangsar Village and Bangsar Village II. Inspiring a sense of ‘hygge,’ the Danish or Norwegian term for ‘cosy contentment,’ the restaurant looks to Scandinavia for culinary inspiration. Start your meal by slathering generous scoops of chicken liver pâté onto slices of sourdough bread before digging into the salted and smoked duck breast; leafy greens and a sweet berry compote take the salty edge off the poultry. Chicken schnitzel, one of Roost’s signatures, is done to a T, while the slipper lobster ravioli doused in a creamy prawn bisque has been on the menu since day one— that was four years ago! For dessert, we like the dark chocolate gateau dusted with cocoa powder and capped with crushed pistachios and berry compote. Too few restaurants in town carry low intervention wines, but Roost is one of those gems. The restaurant does cocktails too, including the Screwed & Shaken, a citrusy vodka-based tipple, and The Myrtille with lime, rosemary and mint—a refreshing end to one’s meal.
