Unless you’re a guest at The Datai, getting to The Pavilion is troublesome, but well worth the effort if you appreciate Thai cuisine and tranquil settings. Picture dining on an elevated platform surrounded by the calm of a rainforest; if that doesn’t convince you, perhaps the promise of a glittering sunset will. Chef Somkeat successfully captures the flavours of Thailand in a number of exciting offerings, including the signature play neong sostakrai or steamed red snapper. Amplified by a sauce containing lemon grass, chilies and lime, the fresh fish is deboned for your convenience and is best paired with jasmine rice. While there is only one type of Thai beer, there is a plethora of signature drinks under The Pavilion Collection, as well as The Datai’s signature ginger ale.
