While Chinese cuisine is anywhere and everywhere in Ipoh, pinpointin­g the good stuff proves harder, hence our approval of this Chinese restaurant in the Weil Hotel. Lured by an endless stream of juicy dumplings and steaming bowls of congee, a crowd congregate­s here for the weekend dim sum buffets. Tack on the signature smoked duck with lychee wood, which beats even KL’S best poultry dishes; each smokey bite confirms this thought. Other signature dishes include the stir-fried asparagus with fresh lily buds and white truffle oil (delicious), and the Chinese-style scotch egg (slightly dry for our liking). And be sure to shoot Chef Allan Tse a smile when he pops out of kitchen to check in on guests.
