Nam Heong made its name with its fa­mous chicken rice and Ipoh chicken hor fun (flat rice noo­dles). Un­sur­pris­ingly, these are must order items here. The non-roasted chicken comes ly­ing on a bed of bean sprouts and the req­ui­site slices of fresh cu­cum­bers, with a side of giz­zard and liver slices. The chicken skin sports an eye-pleasing yel­lowy sheen and its meat is firm and tasty, and goes very well with the fra­grant but­ter rice and home­made chilli dip.

The chicken hor fun comes with broth that is whole­some, suf­fi­ciently sweet and pro­vides the per­fect base for the silky smooth hor fun and the shred­ded chicken and prawns. This is a dish that one shouldn’t be ashamed to slurp down nois­ily!

No meal here would be com­plete with­out hav­ing a go at some light bites like the toast, soft-boiled eggs, egg on toast and dim sum. Desserts-wise, the sig­na­ture egg tarts are a no-brainer.
