Huge turnout expected at MCA Penampang CNY open house

KOTA KINABALU: Preparatio­ns for the MCA Penampang annual Chinese New Year open house on February 20 is underway with the organizing committee hold ing its f ina l meet ing on Sunday night to iron out issues so t hat t he event wil l run smoothly.

MCA Penampang chairman Datuk Paul Kong said they were expecting a huge turnout for the event which would be g raced by many dignitarie­s, including state and federal cabinet ministers.

“Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman is expected to arrive at the venue, K K High School Hal l at 10.3 0am,” he said, adding that other conf irmed V IPs attending include State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Salleh Said, Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin and Datuk Raymond Tan, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid, Datuk Teo Chee Kang and Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir.

“We are also expecting Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, Urban Wel lbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, assist a nt federal cabinet ministers and elected representa­tives,” he said.

According to him, the organizing committee led by deputy MCA Penampang chief Datuk Francis Goh has lined up an exciting programs which i nclude an acrobatic performanc­e from a China troupe, lion dance by world champion SRJK(C) Yick Nam and cultural performanc­es.

Food, drinks and mandarin oranges would be served and ang pows distribute­d to children, he said, adding that the God of Fortune would also be making an appearance.

“Ou r event wi l l star t at 9.30am sharp, so we urge the publ ic to come early so that they can get a good seat,” he said.
