Shop owner, couple fined over unregister­ed products

KOTA KINABALU: A shop owner was fined RM5,000, in default, two months’ jail by the Sessions Court here yesterday for possessing products not registered with the Drug Control Authority.

Judge Azreena Aziz imposed the fine on Normayah Md Yunus, 38, after the latter pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 12 (2) of the Sale of Drugs Act 1952, which carries a maximum fine of RM25,000 or a jail term of up to three years, or both, upon conviction.

Normayah admitted to possessing t wo unregister­ed products, namely 113 packets of BSY Noni Black Hair Magic and 36 boxes of Collagen Plus Vitamin E Day and Night Cream at a beauty care shop at One Place Mall at the Putatan Square in Putatan on April 2, 2014.

Meanwhile, in the same court, a husband and wife were each fined RM4,000, in default, two months’ jai l for supplying 10 types of unregister­ed products, namely four boxes of Susuk Dara Jamu Jalinan Cinta, one box of Catalyst Virgin Coconut Oil, a box of RTA Remedi Tambahan, four boxes of Felinna Beauty Capsu les, 2 2 packets of two types of Jesselton Borneo Detox Foot Patch, two boxes of Susuk Dara Jamu Seri Cahaya, two boxes of Vida Beauty Jamu Seri A nje, three bottles of Emilay Collagen USA and seven boxes of Susuk Dara Jamu Penganti Dara.

Rashidi Sulaiman, 45, who is the shop owner and his wife Noor A’zah Mohamad, 43, the shop manageress, had committed the offence at a health care and cosmetics shop at Wisma Merdeka on September 17, 2014.

Sabah State Health Department’s Pharmaceut­ical Service Division prosecutin­g officers Nasyaruddi­n Simali and Radhika D/O Thangatora­i appeared for the prosecutio­n.
