SANDAKAN: Seven kindergartens in the Batu Sapi parliamentary constituency received educational items under this year’s ‘Operasi Tataba’.

Operasi Tataba or church assistance is an exercise initiated by the Kadazan Dusun Murutbased Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties in Sabah to help churches in the state.

For this operation, Batu Sapi member of parliament Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin distributed tables, chairs and shelves to seven Christian kindergartens in Batu Sapi.

Receiving the items were representatives from Sandakan Baptist Church Kindergarten (main branch), Sandakan Baptist Church Kindergarten (Sibuga), Tadika Sung Siew, True Jesus Church Kindergarten (Sibuga), Good Shepherd Church Kindergarten, Visi Baru ( St Michael’s and All Angel’s Church) and Tadika Kasih Sayang Dorkas.

Linda said she believed the educational materials would be useful and beneficial to the preschool institutions.

“Recipients can utilize the donations to upgrade the kindergarten facilities. Preschool education is very vital to the upbringing of children in their early childhood,” she said last Sunday.

Linda also thanked Operasi Tataba on behalf of the churches in the Batu Sapi constituency which over the years had donated items like grass-cutting machines, stand fans, LCD projectors, electric guitars and amplifiers and plastic chairs.

“Last year, Operasi Tataba also gave construction materials to repair church buildings and clergymen quarters,” she said.

Also present were Reverend Moses Chin, priest of the Church of Good Shepherd, principals and representatives of the kindergartens, and Batu Sapi MP Office liaison head Kong Nyuk Thou.
