Be wary of Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia movement – Fadillah

-

KUCHING: Sarawakiansshouldbe wary of the ’Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia’ (SSKM) movement which is now actively luring supporters.

Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said the movement’s aim to pull both states out of Malaysia is a threat and can destabilize the harmonious situation in the country.

“They brought up issues just to create dissatisfaction among the people, when in fact they actually had hidden agendas,” said Fadillah at the National Unity and Integration Department Kuching (JPNIN) branch Appreciation Dinner at Riverside Majestic Hotel on Sunday.

He advised the Neighbourhood Watch (RT) to be also wary of this movement, adding that the people on the ground should not allow themselves to be influenced and instead, they should fight to ensure Malaysia remains harmonious.

A lot has been done by the government to ensure both Sabah and Sarawak receive equal treatment and enjoy similar development like that of West Malaysia, he said.

“The Works Ministry will soon announce a private partnership project to speed up the construction of the Pan Borneo Highway, and the event will be held on March 30.

“In education, universities and colleges have been set up in Sarawak to give opportunity to our children to further their studies at the comfort of our own place,” he said, adding that is the government’s effort to produce human capital for developing the state.

Earlier on, JPNIN state director Dirwana Azool, in his speech, said the number of RT in Sarawak had increased from 153 last year to 183 this year, which meant more people were now aware that they could also cooperate to fight crimes. He added that the police are always ready to partner with RT members to patrol the neighbourhood at night.
