Foodstuffs for Tambunan Children Home

-

TAMBUNAN: Members of the Rotary Club of Tanjung Aru (RCTA) led by its vice president, Phang Ah Cheng, visited the Bondulu Children Home in Toboh, Tambunan recently and donated various quantities of foodstuff.

The group were warmly welcomed by the sisters-incharge of the Home, Sister Germaine Angkangon and Sister Doris Theodora Abiu, upon arrival.

There are 61 children at the Home currently who depend very much on the generosity of the general public for their daily livelihood. The children come from the rural areas of Tambunan, Keningau and other districts.

Rotarian Jackson Chung, who is the event organizer, said that this charity visit is one of the events that the club has lined up for this year’s calendar.

“More charitable events to help the needy will be organised by our club as this is part of our contribution to society in line with our Rotary Motto ‘Be a Gift to the World’,” said Jackson.

Apart from the visit to the Home, the members also called on a family whose father has been paralysed and not able to perform any work, and needed assistance in terms of household items.

Phang Ah Cheng, who initiated the visit, said that Marius Sukil, 40-years-old, from Kampung Marapok, Keningau has been bedridden since 2011 following a road accident. His wife does not have any job and they have 5 schoolgoing children.

“We try our level best to help him lessen his burden. The welfare government assists the family by providing RM300 monthly but this help is not sufficient as his children are still small,” explained Phang.
