Two patrol boats each for MOF and GOF in Sandakan
SANDAKAN: The Marine Operations Force (MOF) and General Operations Force (GOF) here each received two RHFB patrol boats here yesterday.
Director of Domestic Security and Public Order Department Datuk Mohammad Fuad Abu Zarim said the presentation of four patrol boats to MOF and GOF showed the government’s concern to equip the Royal Police Department with logistics in line with current needs.
The RHFB patrol boat, estimated to be worth RM885,000 each is made of fiber glass with 14 metres in length and three metres width.
It is equipped with two Yahama 300 HP outboard engines.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at Piazza Harbour Mall, Fuad urged MOF and GOF to be more focused on the needs of the local community in maintaining public security and to combat crime in Sabah waters.
“It is timely to improve and modernize the patrol boats that enable enforcement force to ensure efficient, effective and fast service to community in ESSZone area.
“I hope with these RHFB patrol boats they would not only be an asset for GOF and MOF but could increase their work performance,” he said.
Moreover, Mohammad Fuad said the construction of new bases and the acquisition of more sophisticated patrol boats must be carried out from time to time to strengthen the planning and effectiveness of their operations.
The presentation ceremony was also attended by Commander of Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) Datuk Abd Rashid Harun, Commander of MOF Datuk Abd Aziz Yusof, and Sandakan police chief ACP Zabidi Md. Zain.
