CM to grace KKJA’s CNY luncheon
KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) will be holding its annual Chinese New Year luncheon at Hakka Hall on February 21 starting at 11.30 am.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman is expected to grace the event to celebrate the Chinese New Year along with invited state cabinet ministers, KKJA advisors, members and their families.
KKJA chairman, Yong Ted Phen, urged all the invited advisors, honorary advisors, sponsors and members to be punctual.
“KKJA has been organizing the Chinese New Year celebration for the past 25 years since the inception of the association. Apart from celebrating the Chinese New Year, the event promotes interaction and fosters closer relationship among our members, their children, honorary advisors, sponsors and invited guests.”
Yong continued to say that journalists and editors rarely had time to interact with one another as the former were often busy with their assignments, while the latter worked from afternoon till late at night.
“During this luncheon, we hope that our members could put aside their work for a few hours to relax and enjoy the entertainment.”
He said, the organizing committee headed by Jimmy Goh has arranged lion dance, God of Fortune and exciting singing and dancing performances for the event.
This year, KKJA members will get to select their own Lucky Ang Pow. A total of 100 ang pows of different amount will be attached onto a soft board and members who arrive at the venue will receive their ang pows based on the number they select.
The ang pows will contain either RM100, RM50 or RM10. The Lucky Ang Pows will be given away on a first-come-first-served basis.
Hence, Yong urged members to arrive earlier for the Lucky Ang Pow session, which will close at 12.30 pm when the luncheon will begin with the arrival of the Chief Minister. Yong said, KKJA honorary advisor, Datuk Francis Goh, has generously sponsored the ang pows for children and KKJA members.
