Dr Sim urges Chinese community to rally behind Adenan

-

BAU: SUPP president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian has called on the Chinese community to translate their support for Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem into votes for BN in the coming state election.

He cautioned that if Adenan could not get a big mandate, this could affect some of the policies and programmes that the chief minister had planned for Sarawakians.

“I have told the Chinese community that this is a very important election. It is one where they decide whether they wanted to have Chinese representation in the government,” he said at the Barisan Nasional N2 Tasik Biru Solidarity Dinner here on Sunday.

“This election is also a choice for the Chinese community, whether we are fighting for autonomy by watching from the sidelines or fight together as Sarawakians.

This election is also very important to select Chinese political leadership for the next 10 to 20 years.”

Dr Sim was at the 100-table dinner at Bau Civic Centre only briefly to show SUPP’s support for SPDP’s Tasik Biru candidate Dato Henry Harry Jinep.

He also said it was important for all state BN components— PBB, SUPP, PRS and SPDP— to be united and win this election in a big way.

As such, SUPP would support and respect BN components in their respective seats, while other components should reciprocate the gesture likewise, he added.

On another note, Dr Sim said he had given himself a maximum of nine years, from September 2014, to continue leading the party.

“I have used up one year already. I only have (less than) eight more years left. So, don’t worry, I won’t stand for the next 15 to 20 years.

“Chinese politicians overstay, sometimes. I want to assure them I don’t overstay as my most important job is to groom the next group of young Chinese politicians.”
