Fabian, Kona bag second title in two days
KOTA KINABALU: Fabian Osmond and Kona Liau added more titles under their belts in what was a successful weekend for the two top endurance runners.
Fabian was in his own league when he won the Men’s Open event in the Penampang 10K Run held on Sunday, thus winning it for the second straight year.
Kona, on the other hand, retained the Women’s Veteran title of the Run which ended at the Penampang Sports Complex.
The victories for Fabian and Kona came after they had won the Men’s and Women’s Open in the UNITAR-SIDMA Charity Fun Run held a day earlier.
Fabian defeated his protege Wincenbert Latius followed by R. Jayakumar of Selangor in third place.
The Women’s Open event saw Stephanie Chok in first place whileDazeree Joan Joannes and Loretta Jhonny settled for second and third placing.
Yusof Tungkob topped the Men’s Veteran event with last year’s winner Guianus Salagan in second place and Yamin Ali in third spot.
The top three in the Women’s Veteran were Kona, Hamisah Antahar and Chong Vun Lung.
The Penampang 10K Run was also made merrier with the Couple Run, which was introduced in conjunction withValentine’s Day on race day.
Tan Kian Seng and Elvina Jimin topped the category followed by Kenson Rubanjar and Josephine Yaban as well as Fazley and Noraniah.
Around 1,000 runners took part in the Penampang 10K Run that district officer Luvita Koisun f lagged off.
Luvita said she hoped that the annual Run would be able to attract more runners from within and outside the state in the future.
According to Macson Enrico of MS Sports & Event Management which organised the Run, the response had been encouraging where they were many hoping to take part after the closing date.
Macson on behalf of the organiser thanked the district office, Penampang traffic police, sponsors such Ranger energy drink, C.T.Leung Enterprise, Venus Light City, Jintian Minimarket, Jubili Enterprise, Asia Direct Travel, Adabi Sabah distribution, Sabah International Dairies, True Lurve Bridal, Grill’z Kitchen and others for making the Run successful.
