- By Elton Gomes

KOTA KINABALU: A woman and her former boss caused a stir on social media for the past several days when she claimed that her employer had attempted to rape her.

The incident came to light when the woman, in her 20s, claimed on Facebook that her former employer had attempted to rape her late last month.

Following some nasty criticism level led at them an and encouragement from social media users, the woman lodged a police report in Ranau early this month.

The woman claimed in her police report that the attempted rape happened at a parking lot in Beverly Hills, Jalan Bundusan on January 31.

The employer, in his 40s from Peninsular Malaysia, also lodged a police report claiming the woman had misappropriated some of the company’s property, including not returning a company’s handphone after she resigned.

Penampang police chief DSP Rosley Hobden, when contacted yesterday, said police had opened investigation papers on both reports and were currently awaiting further instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor.

“We are just waiting for further instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor on whether to press charges against both or either one of them.

The two cases are being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty, and Section 403 of the same code for dishonest misappropriation of property, he added.
