International Balloon Fiesta in KL March 11-13
PUTRAJAYA: The 8th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) next month will bring colours and fun to the federal administrative capital’s airspace with animal-shaped balloons.
Among the attractions at the three-day fiesta, beginning March 11, include a lobster-shaped balloon dubbed Bobo the Happy Lobster, Bee balloon and Mister Z The Zebra balloon.
Bobo the Happy Lobster will be flown by Geert Van Wolvelaer from Belgium; Bee Balloon (Francisco Naccarato from Brazil); and, Mister Z The Zebra balloon by Jonathan Wright from the United States.
Besides the animal-shaped balloons, the Alien Rocket balloon - to be flown by Alain Bard from Canada - will also make its debut in the fiesta and fly in Asia for the first time.
“PIHABF, this time around, will give more opportunity to the public to be up close with the balloons,” said its chairman, Mohammed Sobri Saad in a media briefing on the fiesta here yesterday.
He said the launching field capacity would be doubled and there would be night glow access.
“There will also be yoga and zumba sessions overlooking the balloons in the morning,” he said.
Putrajaya Corporation president Datuk Seri Hasim Ismail in his speech said last year’s fiesta had attracted more than 300,000 visitors while this year, more than 500,000 visitors were expected to visit the fiesta. - Bernama
