The statement said the humanitarian aid programme was on the initiative of the prime minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor in her capacity as Patron of the Global Children’s Wellbeing Fund (GCWF) and as President of the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (BAKTI) Malaysia.

“GCWF and BAKTI Malaysia contributed USD200,000 and USD40,000 respectively,” it said, adding that the amount was part of a larger contribution of USD600,000 (RM2.7 million) by the GCWF and BAKTI Malaysia for Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan.

The statement said Malaysia’s Ambassador to Jordan, Zakri Jaafar distributed the aid consisting of blankets and powdered milk for children to each family representative last Thursday (Feb 11).

According to the statement, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) is assisting the Embassy in identifying the beneficiaries living among the host communities, namely those living outside of the refugee camps who are in need of the intended humanitarian assistance.
