Labuan Corporation to look into public toilet issue

-

LABUAN: The issue of the public toilet located at Tanjung Batu/Purun Beach here that was closed during the recent Chinese New Year public holiday will be given attention by the Labuan Corporation (LC).

A spokesperson for LC told The Borneo Post that the matter would be brought up in their meeting.

“LC has appointed a contractor to clean the beach, including to manage the public toilet in the area where the operating hours are from 8am to 5pm daily.

“The public toilet located at the Labuan International Sea Sport Complex also operates in similar hours,” the spokesperson said.

During the festive season, many visitors from Labuan and outside of the island came to the beach at Tanjung Batu and Tanjung Purun with their families but many of them had to change their clothes after swimming or bathing in the sea outside due to the locked toilets.

The spokesperson further said that if the public toilets were opened after 5pm, it would incur additional cost of working overtime for the employees.

“Before this, there was a booking from an organisation to extend the toilet operation from 5pm to 7pm as there would be an event at the beach.

“However, to extend the toilet operational hours, the organisation had to pay the LC counter. We will then pay the appointed contractor to keep the toilet open based on the requested hours,” the spokesperson said.
