Unbeaten UiTM FC climb to top of the table

KUALA LUMPUR: Club side UiTM FC climbed to the top of the Premier League table after beating high riding Perlis 1-0 at the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium in Kangar on Monday night.

Uzbekistan import Pavel Purishkin scored the solitary goal in the 27th minute to give his team all three points and their second straight victory in the Premier League, after two games.

Kuala Lumpur kept pace by moving into second spot after beating Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) 1-0 at the Selayang Stadium to register the city side’s second consecutiv­e victory in as many matches through import Leo Carioca’s 64th minute strike from the spot.

Kuala Lumpur were awarded the spot kick after JDT II goalkeeper Fazli Paat brought down Zhafri Yahya inside the box.

At the Darul Makmur Stadium in Pahang, Kuantan FA came from behind to beat Sabah 4-1, to register their first win of the season.

Maxius Musa gave Sabah a f lying start in the 37th minute but Kuantan FA import Dao Bakary cancelled the advantage in the 65th and went on to add another in 89th minute before Abdul Malik Mat Ariff (82nd) and Abdul Wafiy Abdul Ghafar 87th minute had made it 3-1.

Negeri Sembilan also came from behind to register a 3-1 win over DRB-Hicom at the Proton Stadium in Tanjung Malim, Perak with goals from Andrew Nabbout (80th min), Joel Chianese (84th min) and Alexander Smith (89th min).

DRB scored through its Croatian import Ivan Babic in the 20th minute.

Newcomers Melaka United also registered their first win in the Premier League by edging PKNS FC 2-1 at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka.

R. Surendran gave Melaka United the lead in the 21st minute but PKNS equalised in the 49th minute through Juan Manuel Cobelli from Argentina but Nurshamil Abd Ghani struck the winner in the 72nd minute to walk away with all three points. – Bernama
