Chancellor EDUCATION is increasingly being viewed beyond the mere acquisition of knowledge, but in combination with skills and character development. The challenge of unemployment, under employment and un-employability is a paradox in our time when there are opportunities aplenty for the pursuit of education.

It is in this context that Malaysia Music Teachers Training College (MMTC) and its associated programs and modules that make it stand out among institutions of learning in Malaysia. Not every child is made for tertiary education. Our society needs more than just degree holders to function. We need institutions with innovative programs to unearth and develop the innate talents of our young people who may not be academically inclined; and beyond that empower them with business models and career development roadmap to help them on their way to fulfilling their potentials.

The MMTC Entrepreneur Business Model is a holistic education system that produces graduates who are immediately unemployable and capable, if they chose, to launch an entrepreneur career. We are more than just a music teachers training college. The equal emphasis on academic and vocational skills, combined with communication skills, market exposure and mastery of soft skills make MMTC graduates a cut above others.

MMTC’s retail business model demonstrates its awareness of the industry needs as well as the desire of youths who aspire to be entrepreneurs. By being equipped with theoretical knowledge of music and practical music skills in composition, arrangement, instrument repair and customisation, pioneering batches of MMTC graduates have shown their prowess in Malaysia and beyond.

I commend Mr. Peter Chua, the Principal and CEO of MMTC, and Dr. Janet Lee, the Executive Vice President of MMTC, for all their creativity, hard work, passion and dedication. They have created a brilliantly unconventional path to potential greatness for our youths.
