Philippines to have liaison officer in KK

-

LAHAD DATU: Philippine has agreed to place a liaison officer in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, to ease the communication process between the Malaysian and the Philippines authorities, according to the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

He said the placement of the officer would also enable the Malaysian authority to obtain further and relevant information about any issues from their counterparts in Manila.

“We (authorities in both countries) have also appointed ‘Contact Point Persons’ between the police in the many districts in the east coast of Sabah and southern Philippine.”

He said this to reporters after presenting the National Sovereignty Award to 216 officers and personnel from the Marine Police, Air Unit and General Operations Force here yesterday.

Ten wives of police personnel involved in the Ops Daulat 2013 also received due recognition for their efforts and sacrifices in helping their husbands during the operation.

Meanwhile, Khalid said the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) had been successful in preventing enemies from entering the national waters, especially in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone).

However, he said the ESSCom and the Sabah Police should always be in the state of full preparedness as enemies were just waiting for opportunities to commit cross-border crimes. Bernama
