Najib's speech important for all party members to fathom — Musa

KOTA KINABALU: The policy speech by Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Umno General Assembly yesterday was important for all party leaders and members to fathom, said Sabah Umno liaison chairman, Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

He said, the wala' and loyalty principles which were stressed by the prime minister, would enable Umno to face various incoming challenges.

"Although we, Sabah Umno, are the youngest in the UMNO big family, we will continue to work hard and go to the ground to approach the grassroots who had given their trust to us.

"We will also ensure that all messages and emphasis by the party president, will be appreciated and interpreted by Sabah Umno," he said in a statement, here, yesterday.

On the recognition towards the state Umno for having the highest number of Umno members, Musa who is also Sabah Chief Minister thanked the gesture and admitted that there were no secrets or tips for the achievement.

"There are no shortcuts either. What is important is that we need to work hard, go to the ground, be loyal to the party and leaders, be sincere and prove the Umno contributions via the development agenda for Sabahans.

"InsyaAllah the people will notice and give their support to join our struggles," he said.

Earlier, Najib in his policy speech, had informed the delegates that Sabah Umno which comprised 25 divisions, recorded the highest number of membership with 561,617 people to date.

The state Umno also recorded the highest number of membership for branch and division levels, with Kampung Batu Putih in Libaran registering 2,371 members and Silam 51,902 members. - Bernama
