SGCC Junior Open Dec 7-9

-

KOTA KINABALU: The 15th Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) Junior Open will be held from December 7-9.

In revealing this yesterday, its president Datuk Peter Khoo urged junior boys and girls golfers from around the state to take part in the tournament.

For a change, he said, there will be a ‘fun’ factor in the tournament to make it exciting for the participants and their parents.

“For the first time in a Sabah junior golf tournament, we will organise many skill events such as longest drive, putting and short game competitions.

“There will also be pro talks and clinics in an effort to help the golfers play better,” he said while adding a special event for novice players too will take place to develop their interest and confidence in the game.

“The tournament is part of our long term plan to groom young boys and girls who aspire to play competitive golf professionally or to earn college golf scholarship through competitive junior golf,” Khoo added.

Also present at the press conference yesterday were SGCC deputy president Danny Lim, secretary Ian Yong, treasurer Peter Raymond Wong, captain Ng Loong Fah and club coach Frazer Pook.

Meanwhile, the tournament will contest category A (age 1618), category B (13-15), category C (10-12) and the novice event for boys and girls.

Those interested should contact the Club at 088-247533 or Noordin at 016-8397411.
