Lajim denies a supreme council member has quit

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah has refuted claims that one of its supreme council members had resigned to join Parti Warisan Sabah to be one of its candidates for the 14th general election (GE14).

Harapan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Panglima Lajim Ukin, in a statement yesterday, said that the rumour was a form of provocation aimed at damaging his political career.

“Harapan Rakyat’s Labuan division chief, Siti Zaleha SW Ibrahim, was said to have ditched the party for Warisan and will be contesting as one of its candidates in GE14.

“This is not true because Siti Zaleha is one of the earliest people to join Harapan Rakyat and she will continue to fight alongside us in the party for the people of Labuan and Sabah,” Lajim stressed.

Siti Zaleha has also refuted the claim that she will be contesting in the Labuan parliamentary seat under Warisan.

“I have never joined Warisan and it is very irresponsible of them to have spread this rumour. Their action has smeared my name and reputation among Labuan folks, therefore I hope that I can clear my name through this statement,” she said.

“I joined Harapan Rakyat on October 28, 2016 because I have full confidence in Lajim’s leadership and administration of the party. I want to reiterate here that I stand solely with Harapan Rakyat and the leadership of Datuk Lajim as party president,” Siti Zaleha said.

Last week, a list purportedly of Warisan’s candidates for GE14 went viral on the social media. Warisan secretary general Loretto Padua Jr has said that the list was not true.
