10 to fight for honours at Sugandoi Kaamatan final
PENAMPANG: Only ten out of 44 representatives from various districts will be competing in the finale of Sugandoi Kaamatan 2017 at Hongkod Koisaan Hall here tomorrow evening.
They are Jacinda Faye who represents Tuaran, Glady Ruth Jaimus (Tenom), Zarinie SyakiraZainal (Sandakan), Angie Imelda Minsu (Kota Marudu), Dyandra Justine (Putatan), Francisca Juingki (Libaran), Ray Asmadin (Lahad Datu), Fred Joane Asoon (Pegalungan), Chrispine Joseph (Likas) and Afiezal Fahmi Inggu (Labuan).
They had to face a closelyfought competition in a two-day selection stages on Monday and Tuesday prior to earning a place in the finals.
Apart from Sugandoi Kaamatan, two other categories – Sugandoi Songkotoun (veteran) and Sugandoi Dazanak (children) - will also hold their respective finals on the same night.
Sugandoi Kaamatan is opened for contestants aged 18 and above while Sugandoi Songkotoun is reserved for participants aged 60 and above.
The third category, Sugandoi Dazanak, is meant for young participants aged 12 and below.
The champion in the Statelevel Sugandoi Kaamatan will receive RM6,000 while the second and third place winners will bring home RM4,000 and RM3,000 respectively.
The other seven finalists will not go home empty-handed as they will receive RM600 each.
As for Sugandoi Songkotoun and Sugandoi Dazanak, the main winners will bring home RM1,500 each.
The first and second runnersup will receive RM1,000 and RM800 respectively, while the other finalists will receive a consolation prize of RM300 each.
The final competition is scheduled to start at 6pm and the public are welcomed to witness the event.
Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan is expected to officiate at the event.
