KOTA KINABALU: Masjid Nurul Ihsan of Kampung Ketiau, Putatan, received a hearse from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) yesterday.

The money for the van, contributed by BSN, was derived from its Islamic banking scheme business zakat.

The overall BSN’s business zakat for financial year 2015 was RM3 million and the hearse contribution covered RM1.5 million.

BSN has selected 13 mosques throughout the country for the hearse contribution, where each state would receive a van.

Head of BSN Islamic Banking, Mohd Supian Mat Nan, said the contribution was BSN’s Corporate Social and Responsibility.

He said BSN had given out hearses to 13 states every year since 2010.

Meanwhile, BSN also contributed a mock cheque of RM30,000 for the development of a surau at Kampung Sinogindai, in Pitas.

Also present at the event were State Mufti Sahibus Samahah Datuk Ustaz Bungsu @ Aziz Hj Jaafar, Sabah Jakim director Ustaz Hj Mat Radzi Hj Mat Ali, Jheains affairs officer Abdu Khalil Hassan and Sabah BSN business director Zamri Ngah.
