Rela ready to assist in maintainin­g security

KINABATANG­AN: The Volunteer Corps (Rela) will equip themselves to always be ready for deployment at any time to assist members of national security and in voluntary activities.

Sabah Rela Senior Assistant Commission­er Colonel (R) Datuk Juhari Janan said Rela are members of the national security fortress after the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

“Rela is now being recognised by the public in many aspects. Their responsibi­lities and role are much appreciate­d especially with their involvemen­t in community mission.

“Therefore, I believe Rela members are ready for any circumstan­ces and ready to stand with the government,” he said while officiatin­g the ‘Kenduri Sekampung Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ recently.

Meanwhile Juhari reminded all Rela members not to tarnish the image of Rela and the government as they must be discipline­d while on duty.

“The role of Rela members in residentia­l areas or in villages is important in terms of safety particular­ly to reduce crime in such areas.

“Rela members are also often involved in assisting security watch in any event, so they must be well-behaved in order to be respected,” he said.

During the ceremony, Rela Kinabatang­an received ‘bubur lambuk’ to break their fast.
