SEMPORNA: Fishermen have been urged to continue supporting the current government which has proven to be concerned about the people.

Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marahaban said various initiatives and assistance have been provided by the government to take care of fishermen’s welfare.

Ramlee said the assistance included living allowance as the government is concerned about the difficulties faced by the fishermen if they could not go to sea due to various factors.

“Fishermen should be grateful as the government is always working to find the best way to help them and they should take advantage of the kindness and concern of the government,” he said at the presentation of living allowance to 654 fishermen here.

Also present was Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority Region 3 Tawau officer Rosli Kasmuri.

Ramlee, who is also Bugaya assemblyman and Sabah Umno Deputy Head of Information, said Umno wings comprising Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri always gave cooperation and commitment to Umno to ensure the best service will reach the people.

“Each wing has its own initiative to further organize the wing’s leadership and make adjustments to further strengthen its work and strategies,” he said.
