Woman turns to crowd-funding for RM60,000 legal fees

JOHOR BARU: The 22year-old saleswoman in the accident in Jalan Lingkaran Dalam here where eight “Mat Lajak” cyclists were killed in February is now turning to crowd-funding to foot her legal fees.

Sam Ke Ting took to Facebook to voice her helplessne­ss and asked for the public’s help to collect money for her court case.

She said about RM60,000 is needed to foot her legal fees and asking for help from the public was her last resort.

“The cost of the lawsuit had exceeded my expectatio­ns. My family had also exhausted their savings to help me foot the costs,” she said in her Facebook entry posted at around 1pm on Friday.

Sam included her account numbers at two banks and asked the public for donations.

On March 28, Sam claimed trial to a charge of ramming into the group of eight cyclists near the Mahmoodiah Muslim cemetery at around 3.30am on Feb 18.
