-

KOTA KINABALU: Shotokan Karate Association of Sabah elected Simon Chia as their new president at the SKAS 3rd Annual General Meeting held here Tuesday.

The newly elected president for 2017-2019 has pledged to focus on the association's core objectives.

Chia, founder of the association, has developed numerous athletes who have competed at national championships.

He believed that over the past 20 years karate has done a tremendous part in shaping children's discipline, sportsmanship and fitness.

He hoped that the association would be able to unearth as many junior and senior talents from its current members and newcomers.

Chia was also hopeful that the newly elected executive committee would work hard towards its vision of organising more activities to produce more athletes for the state.

“On behalf of the association, I would like to thank the past committee for their dedication and hard work. The new line-up will continue the good effort and ensure that SKAS would be brought to the next level of excellence,” Chia said.
