KOTA KINABALU: To usher in the month of Ramadan, GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (GCH Retail) yesterday announced the comeback of Giant Hypermarket’s annual Bubur Lambuk Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in Sabah.

This year’s giveaways, held in collaboration with Adabi, commenced yesterday at Giant Kolombong here with the theme, “Berhati Mulia di Bulan Ramadan; Rapatkan Saf”.

Community Development and Consumer Affairs minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid launched the campaign in the presence of Giant East Malaysia and Brunei head Marius Knight.

In line with the spirit of giving during Ramadan, GCH Retail also kicked off its Giant 1 Million Reusable Bags giveaway in Sabah, yesterday.

Starting from yesterday, customers spending RM50 and above in a single receipt at any Giant stores nationwide will be given a reusable Giant shopping bag.

“The month of Ramadhan is associated with the carrying out of good deeds. It is with a spirit of reflection and giving that GCH Retail is honoured to once again commence our annual CSR event, in view of strengthening our ties with our customers in areas that we serve. This is our fifth year of organizing the program, and we would like to thank Adabi for making this year’s event possible,” said Knight.

“Going further, we are giving away limited edition Giant 1 Million Reusable Bags as another demonstration of our continuous commitment to add value to our customers’ shopping experience, particularly during this significant period of the year.

“Even after Ramadan, we hope that our customers will always have their shopping bags handy to be reused each time they shop at Giant. Moreover, in support of the government’s aim to reduce the use of plastic bags, this program also gives us an opportunity to do our bit in conserving the environment for future generations by reducing plastic consumption across all Giant stores. This will ultimately help to lessen landfill waste as well as plastic pollution in our seas,” he added.

The Bubur Lambuk Cookout and Giveaway drive in Sabah will be held here, in addition to three other Giant stores namely, Giant Supermarket lndah Permai and Giant Putatan on June 10, and Giant Papar on June 17.

Giant Keningau will hold their Bubur Lambuk program during its first anniversary celebration on June 23.

Moving forward with the Ramadan spirit of giving, GCH Retail renewed its ongoing initiative of giving back to the community, especially those in need by hosting a breaking of fast with 10 underprivileged families yesterday at Giant lndah Permai.

In tandem, GCH Retail will also be organising two exciting Giant Ramadan photo contests, May 25 to June 18, for the most creative buka puasa photo shares using the hashtag #GiantGlamorRaya; and the Giant Raya photo contest, June 22 to July 9, for the best family wefie photo submissions.

Up to 30 sets of RM100 vouchers will be awarded for each contest.

Furthermore, customers stand a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy S8 when they pay using their Visa or Visa Paywave credit, debit or prepaid Card at any Giant outlets in the country.
