“The armed forces have also stationed its Quick Reaction Force (QRF) members with other troops operating in the islands off Sabah and will increase patrols by combat boats in the areas identified as the route (to enter Sabah) from the southern Philippines,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“The additional troop is to ensure that the coastal areas of Lahad Datu are fully manned... this includes moving additional assets that have the ability to counter and respond quickly on any threat,” he added.

“The ATM will continue to work closely with the armed forces of the three countries to strengthen security control in the respective nations, including sharing information on intelligence.”
