Sabah will not be neglected — Ismail

- By Neil Brian Joseph

KOTA KINABALU: As the country prepares itself for the National Transformation 2050 (TN50), the issue of Sabah being neglected will no longer be an issue.

Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said Sabah has always been a priority to the Federal Government, especially in terms of the state’s budget allocation.

In line with this, the aspirations voiced by the youths in the State, through the TN50 Community Dialogue, are vital for the future development of the country as a whole, he said during a TN50 Community Dialogue, organized by his ministry, at the Tabung Haji Hotel yesterday.

The event saw over 300 youths from all over the state given the opportunity to express their aspirations.

Ismail also shared his dream to see both West Malaysia and East Malaysia having the same housing prices, thus ensuring absolute fairness.

He said he is happy to see the young people taking the spotlight at the TN50 forums instead of hearing from the old timers all the time.

He admitted that the approach taken by the old timers and the youth of today are different, thus he urged youths to make full use of the TN50 Community Dialogue to air their views.

Ismail also touched on the issue of ‘reverse migration’, in which he hoped to see more urban workers returning to their hometowns in rural areas so that they can give back to their community.

He urged the youth to change their mindset, especially when it comes to job hunting.

He said youths, once they have graduated, should be ‘job creators’ instead of being mere ‘job seekers’.
