TENOM: Some 100 people have received aid and daily necessities at the Iftar organised by Tenom Wanita Umno at the Hidayatullah Mosque at Kallang housing estate here on Sunday.

Tenom Wanita Umno chief Datuk Rahmahjan Sulaiman Khan said assistance was given to recipients comprising senior citizens, the poor, converts, single mothers and orphans.

The movement also contributed RM3,000, veil and mat to the mosque committee.

Rahmahjan said the program held every year has helped those in need in accordance with the teachings of Islam, especially in this holy month of Ramadan.

“We, in the Wanita movement, besides being closer to the people also provide assistance during every festive season, regardless of religion and race,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Muslim community in the housing estate and its surrounding areas now can pray at the Hidayatullah Mosque more comfortably than ten years ago.

Mosque committee chairman, Dato Mamit Haji Sulaiman, said the mosque received assistance from the state government such as carpets and six air-conditioning units, which is badly needed by the Muslims over the years and hoped that more assistance would be provided in the future.

“I, on behalf of the Muslims here, express our gratitude for the support provided by the state government, especially Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman,” he said.
