Datuk Cladius Roman heads SGAS again

KOTA KINABALU: Almost all committee members of the Senior Golfers’ Associatio­n of Sabah led by incumbent president Datuk Cladius Roman were returned unopposed at its annual general meeting on Wednesday at the Tambunan Golf Club here.

Those re-elected unopposed were Datuk Cladius, deputy president Datuk George Ginibun, vice-president Anthony F. Asing, honorary secretary James Mandasa, honorary treasurer Victor Moosom, captain Joseph Roman and lady captain Datin Carlota Bazan.

The three elected committee members were Joseph Wong, Harry Beatty and William Gomic.

Others appointed in accordance with the associatio­n’s proposed amendments to create two extra vice-presidents, a vice captain and two more committee members subject to its approval, were Paul Nointien (vice president), Recardo Stanley Faurillo (vice captain) and Barahim Taliban (committee member).

In his speech, Datuk Cladius praised the organising committee for the successful 9th Pan Borneo Senior Amateur Golf Amateur championsh­ip involving Brunei Darussalam and Sarawak held here last year.

Sabah were declared the champions after sweeping all the titles – team event gross category, team event nett category and the overall champions title - for the first time in the history of the championsh­ip. Brunei Darussalam came second and Sarawak took the third spot.
