SEC invites orphans to break fast

-

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 19 orphans from the Nur Taqwa Orphanage Kota Belud were treated with an array of sumptuous delights, courtesy of Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC) Sdn Bhd.

The orphans were invited for a breaking of fast dinner at the Sabah Oriental Hotel, yesterday.

SEC chief executive officer Dato’ Harun Ismail said they chose the Nur Taqwa Orphanage because it was less well-known compared to the more established orphanages in the state.

“We did not want to choose the more famous ones because we figured that they had already received enough help.

“We wanted to choose an orphanage that is less well-known because they are the ones who need help the most,” said Harun.

He said not all of the children at the Nur Taqwa Orphanage were actual orphans as some of them had been sent to the orphanage due to financial problems.

Harun disclosed that his company would look a for a new orphanage to assist every year.

Among the orphanages that SEC had helped over the years were the ones in Kudat, Putatan, Ranau, Papar and Sembulan.

Other than treating the orphans with sumptuous delights, the orphans were also given Duit Raya and new sets of Baju Raya for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

On top of that, SEC also donated 50 chairs and six dining tables for the Nur Taqwa orphanage.

“Prior to our donation, the orphans at Nur Taqwa had to sit on the floor every time they eat. Thus, we decided to bless them with this donation,” Harun said.
