APART from students who are pursuing the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) at Sunway TES Centre for Accounting Excellence (STES CAE), affiliates and members of the ACCA professional accounting body will now be able to pursue the MSc Professional Accountancy here without leaving the country.
Upon completing the MSc programme ACCA students will attain both the ACCA and MSc Professional Accountancy qualifications concurrently whilst affiliates and members gain an additional certification via the MSc programme.
The MSc Professional Accountancy has been designed to support the candidates in developing high level knowledge and intellectual skills needed for leadership in the global finance arena. The programme also helps candidates to develop commercial, strategic and creative skills to address challenges presented in today’s fast paced, ever evolving business landscape and interconnected world.
Sunway TES CAE is offering the MSc Professional Accountancy programme in collaboration with ACCA and the University of London International Programme (UOLIP) through 2 pathways.
The first pathway is open to current full-time ACCA students who have passed all ACCA F1 to F9 papers or gained exemptions approved by ACCA, and passed ACCA professional level P1-Governance, Risk and Ethics, P2-Corporate Reporting and P3-Business Analysis papers. Students will need to complete 3 modules; Strategic Financial Management, Strategic Performance Management and Strategic Financial Projectto gain an additional qualification, the MSc Professional Accountancy.
The second pathway to the MSc Professional Accountancy programme is open to those who have completed the ACCA programme. To gain the MSc Professional Accountancy, affiliates and members of the ACCA professional accounting body will need to complete the Global Issues for the Finance Professional and the Strategic Financial Project papers.
For both pathways, students and candidates have the flexibility of completing the required papers of the MSc Professional Accountancy programme within 6 months to 5 years. Complementing the ACCA programme, the MSc Professional Accountancy is a practical and cost-effective route to gain 2 qualifications concurrently or as an additional qualification to the ACCA.
Apart from these two pathways, ACCA studentswho have completed the Fundamental level papers F1-F9 may opt to take on the Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) offered by UOLIP.
To earn the PGCert, candidates will have to complete the Strategic Financial Management and Strategic Performance Management papers. Students with PGCert may pursue the MSc Professional Accountancy certification by transferring credits to the programme after completing P1, P2 and P3. This will allow them to continue and complete the MSc programme under pathway 1. The MSc Professional Accountancy programme was launched at Sunway TES CAE in early April.
