Its current programme offerings include a wide variety of programmes at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and its School of Social Sciences offers a wide array of business and psychology related programmes, including an undergraduate Psychology with Management programme and a pure Psychology programme.
Renowned for its practical approach to its programmes and teaching styles, Heriot-Watt University has earned a well-deserved reputation for providing its students with a professionally relevant education.
“Students can expect to graduate from our programme with both a sound understanding of relevant academic knowledge and the practical skills required to apply it in the work-related setting. The assessment strategies we employ support the development of these skills so that, for example, they will graduate with actual experience of having written a consultancy report, developed a diversity strategy or a leadership training programme, and so on,” added Dr Sue.
“There are a plenty of career opportunities as organisations are looking into psychology graduates, especially in Human Resources. There is a great need for employees who have a deep understanding about human behaviours and translating that knowledge into strategies when it comes to attraction, development and retention of the workforce,” explained Ng Yat Seng, senior manager of Talent Management at Synthomer.
He continued, “Regardless of where you work, you will have to interact with many different people, be they your peers, bosses, stakeholders, customers or suppliers. By understanding their needs, their motives and how they behave, you would be able to work with them more effectively,” explained Dr Sue.
With the Go Global programme, students have the flexibility of choosing when they would like to transfer and the duration of transfer. The use of similar syllabi at all of the university’s campuses also reduces any academic barrier; students can transfer as long as their programme is offered at their campus of choice.
