Man charged with inciting daughter to act of indecency

KOTA KINABALU: A 40-yearold man who was charged with inciting his daughter to an act of gross indecency will know his fate on August 3.

Sessions Court judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamed set the date for decision on the man after the defence closed its case with four witnesses called to testify.

The accused was alleged to have incited the 14-year-old girl to an act of gross indecency at a house in Manggatal in November 2015.

He faces a charge framed under Section 377E of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to five years and whipping, upon conviction.

The prosecutio­n called six witnesses to testify against the accused during the trial.

Deputy public prosecutor Hafizah Zahidah Abdullah appeared for the prosecutio­n while counsel P.J Perira represente­d the accused.

In the Magistrate’s Court here, a 24-year-old man claimed trial to voluntaril­y hurting a woman.

Mohd Effendi Yusof, who was brought before magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun, was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to a year, or a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both, on conviction.

He was alleged to have committed the offence at 9.30am on June 18, 2016.

The magistrate fixed July 11 this year for pre-trial case management and he was released on RM3,000 bail with two local sureties, pending disposal of the case.
